Apprenticeship Programs

Myan Shwe Pyi Tractors Ltd. is the authorized Caterpillar Dealer for Myanmar and is known as “MSP CAT”. The Dealership launched an Apprenticeship program in 2007 to provide Service Technician training to young high school graduates who may not have the opportunity to pursue university education. The apprentices are provided an access to world class Caterpillar Service Technician training at no cost in our Training Centre equipped with modern training facilities and Caterpillar-certified trainers. After graduation, the apprentices are employed as Technicians.

  • Planned recruitment between 20-25 apprentices every year starting from 2011

MSP CAT spends about USD 11,500 per apprentice for 4-year program, providing the apprentices with monthly stipend, uniforms and other required personal protective equipments.


Partnership with Centers of Vocational Training

The Dealership takes on the role of training company to provide on-job training to the apprentices from CVT (Center of Vocational Training), a Swiss-based NGO that provides three-year vocational training (free of charge) in various professions to youngsters in Myanmar.

MSP CAT and Singapore Myanmar Vocational Training Institute have signed MOU on Aug 2, 2016 to jointly set up a Diesel Engine Technology Lab at SMVTI facility to introduce the training of Diesel Engine Technology as an elective module. MSP CAT trainers shall facilitate knowledge transfer to SMVTI trainers so that they can train the local students in Cat®diesel engine operation and maintenance.
This collaboration between the Caterpillar dealer in Myanmar and SMVTI would offer benefits to the society as it would develop sustainable livelihoods for disadvantaged Myanmar youths through Caterpillar standard vocational skill training while building the skilled manpower pool for Mechanic requirement of the industry.


Education for the future

Over the years, MSP CAT affiliated Company has built a number of schools and library buildings in remote areas of Myanmar to assist in providing basic quality education to the future generations. 10 schools are built to date, with combined capacity for 2217 school children.


Prevention of Blindness Campaigns

Founded in 1915, Helen Keller International (HKI) based in New York City, is among the oldest international nonprofit organizations devoted to fighting and treating preventable blindness and malnutrition. MSP CAT is one of the financial contributors to HKI in prevention of Blindness and Malnutrition campaigns in Myanmar. MSP donated generators to power the Eye Operation Theatres in General Hospitals where HKI is running vision care programs in collaboration with local medical institutions.

  • An Olympian Brand 10kVA diesel generator donated to be used to power the Eye Operation Theatre in Sittwe General Hospital in Rakhine State in December, 2009.
  • A portable Robin Brand 5.5kVA generator donated to Yangon Eye Hospital in March 2011 .
  • Olympian Brand 7.5kVA generator donated to Hpa An General Hospital in Sept, 2011.
  • A generator is scheduled to donate to Bago General Hospital in 2013.
  • USD 15,000 donated for training for maintenance of equipment in Eye Hospitals.
  • USD 13,000 worth 16KVA genset was donate to Mandalay Women hospital on 21st December 2015.
  • Every year donate to Myanmar Autism and Down Syndrome association

Prevention of HIV/AIDS

Myanmar Business Coalition on AIDS is a non-profit organization established by a group of international and national business people to provide leadership in a selected humanitarian program within our own community: HIV/AIDS. Our dealership has been one of the most active members and chartered sponsors of MBCA since its establishment in 2001, consistently supporting MBCA and sponsoring various MBCA programs to promote and educate Myanmar human resources on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. In 2012, MSP CAT becomes a signing member of Myanmar Business Community Charter on AIDS and President Trophy Donor in support of MBCA to implement Ministry of Health's National Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS. Total financial contribution to date: USD 35,000.



The Myanmar Cycling Federation led by chairman of MSP CAT is getting into its stride in promoting cycling sport of Myanmar. Since 2014, MSP CAT has been holding the year-long series bike races, six races in year “Cycle and Make A Difference Charity Series” in different places of Myanmar with a view to foster competitive racers, to prepare training programs based on an organized race calendar throughout the year, to achieve interest of the whole nation upon cycling sport and to support the communities living in the vicinity of race events.

MSP CAT took role of main sponsor for successful hosting of the 10th Asian Continental BMX Championships, held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 31, the first cycling event ever held in Myanmar with official endorsement from the sport’s governing body, the International Cycling Union (UCI).
In addition to bike races, the construction of Bike Tracks all over the Myanmar where places availed is being planned and one of those, the Cross Country Mountain Bike Track located in north Dagon township, is under construction to generate new cyclists in future.
